The Transformative Learning community has continued to grow and evolve since the first gathering Jack Mezirow convened in 1998 at Teachers College, Columbia University. In 2013, a group of scholars and practitioners in the heart of the TL community and discourse formed what came to be known as the Stewards. Their main purpose has been to tend to the evolution of the theory as well as care for the values and principles of the transformative learning community. In 2018, the International Transformative Learning Association (ITLA) was formed as a legal entity to better empower and grow our community. An international leadership team has since been co-creating a transformative governance of the ITLA and a website to enable collaborations in TL research, practice, education and conference activities across the globe. Today, we are delighted and proud to warmly invite you to join the virtual launch of the ITLA!
